ARTpRIDE was set up in November 2005 by a group of like-minded QLGBT women artists who wanted to exhibit work as part of Birmingham Pride and to bring contemporary, and at times controversial, art into the gay community.
2006 marked aRTpRIDE’s first exhibition featuring nine artists and was entirely self-funded.
In 2007, aRTpRIDE successfully applied for funding from the National Lottery Awards For All scheme, enabling the group to mount an exhibition on a larger scale thus increasing the number of participants and reaching a wider audience.
